Baylor had to travel to Wichita Falls to take on Midwestern State University this past weekend in Baylor’s first cup match of the season. The team was keen to start the season with a win. This is the first match Baylor has had to play on snow since they defeated Salisbury State in Reno, NV on way to winning their Championship.
The match kicked off with Baylor coming out strong and putting up 3 nicely worked tries by Gavin Goetchius, Josh Terndup and Brent Jakubec. This allowed Baylor a halftime lead of 19-7 with MSU only offense coming off BU mistakes.
The second half settled into a defensive battle as neither team could overcome the elements.
This was a good win and moves Baylor to 1-0 on the season.
The team will now turn its focus on finals and will shortly gear up for the Spring season. With continued hardwork by the coaches and players this should shape up to be a very exciting season for Baylor Rugby!
