Baylor Rugby, 2016-17 USA Rugby D1A National Quarterfinalist and Red River Rugby Collegiate Conference Champions, is ready to defend its conference championship in 2017-18. The Bears have released their 2017-18 schedule that starts with a non conference matchup against Texas State Sept 23rd. Baylor will then switch gears and head into an abbreviated sevens season in the month of October highlighted by the RRRCC 7’s Championship hosted by TCU on October 14th. About a month later the defense of the conference title gets started with a road trip back up to Ft. Worth to take on TCU Nov 18th. All eyes will be on Waco December 2nd as the Oklahoma Sooners travel down for an early season marquee match which will likely decide who’s in the driver’s seat for the North Division title.
The Spring semester kicks off Jan 20th with a home match against Texas Tech. This is the start of a 3 game stretch including road trips to Houston and Fayetteville. Later in the spring another huge road trip sees the Bears travel to Jonesboro to take on top ranked Arkansas State March 17th. As big as that match is there is none bigger than the conference championship on April 7th. The other eight teams in the conference have their sights set on dethroning the Bears as the conference champions but Baylor looks forward to keeping them all at bay throughout the season.
